Tooji for Baku

Tooji will represent Norway this year in the Eurovision Song Contest. Four acts advanced to the super-final but in the end Tooji who was the hot favourite to lift the trophy, won the ticket to Baku.
Norway will be represented by the young male singer Tooji. He will perform the song Stay in May after he received 155,480 votes. Tooji was born in Iran but his family moved to Norway. He also released a single in 2008 called Swan Song. Tooji also worked at MTV Norway where he hosted two shows.

Following three semi-final shows the Melodi Grand Prix final took place in Oslo. This year’s Norwegian selection presented ten acts and the 2009 Eurovision winner Alexander Rybak was the special guest to perform in the interval act. Rybak was called in the last minute after last year’s Norwegian hopeful Stella Mwangi couldn’t perform after her dad died earlier last week.

Last year Norway failed to qualify to the final and this year’s hopeful will compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest to be held on 24th May.

Compact Disco sound of our Heart

Hungary has decided - Compact Disco will represent the central European country in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, to be held in Baku in May. The Hungarian entry in Baku is entitled Sound of our hearts.
Eight acts competed in the Hungarian national final, A Dal. Both the Hungarian and the international viewers decided the four artists that had to proceed to the 'Superfinal' - The Kiralys, Caramel, Compact Disco and Gábor Heincz. Then, the jury alone decided the overall winner of the national selection - Compact Disco got two of the four jury votes and therefore become the Hungarian representative in Eurovision 2012.

Hungary will compete in the second half of the first semifinal, on May 22nd.

Second Semifinal Melodi Festivalen 2012

The second semifinal of Melodifestivalen, the Swedish selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, will take place tonight in Göteborg. Eight artists will compete. Two of them will directly qualify for the final, while another two will have a second chance at the 'Andra Chansen' show.
The show

Melodifestivalen 2012 will span over six shows, starting February 4th, and will end with the grand final on March 10th, where the Swedish representative for Eurovision 2012 will be chosen. Out of the 3,485 songs submitted, 16 were chosen to take part in the competition. SVT has invited additional 15 songwriters to the selection, and the last spot went to the Webbjoker winner. 50% televoting and jury deliberation will apply as voting rule.

Final Melodi Gran Prix 2012 Norway

The Norwegian national final of Melodi Grand Prix will be held tonight. The country's representative for Eurovision 2012 will be chosen from a total of ten acts who previously qualified from the semifinals.
The show

Ten participants will battle tonight to become the Norwegian representative in Baku. Nine of them qualified directly from the semifinals. The tenth act, Lise Karlsnes, was given the wildcard and therefore was allowed to proceed to the final.

Tonight Final Icelandic Eurovision 2012

Tonight, Iceland will be selecting its representative to the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. Seven acts will compete to win the final of Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins.
The show

Iceland is once again selecting its Eurovision Song Contest entry through the popular contest Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins. Three semifinals have been held this year, with five acts each. Two qualified from each show, being selected with a combination of jury voting and televoting at a 50% stake. An additional act was allowed to proceed to the final as a wildcard. Hence seven acts will compete in the national final tonight

A dal National Final in Hungary Tonight Eurovision 2012

Hungary selects its 2012 Eurovision entry tonight through the final of A Dal, the country's national selection. Eight acts will battle to become the Hungarian representative in Baku.
The show

The final of A Dal will feature eight participants, four from each semifinal. Six of them qualified thanks to jury voting and another two through televoting. The Hungarian representative was initially planned to be decided by a 50/50 mix of jury deliberation and televoting. It has been finally decided that the singer will be selected by the jury alone.
